Here is what happens in your first 30 minutes at Kallada Smile, step by step. Timings are approximate.
- Arriving. The clinic is on the first floor of the Rev. Joseph Ramban Memorial Building, on NH 544.
- The front desk. Give your name and phone number. Bring old X-rays and a list of medicines if you have them. The consultation fee is paid here, and it is shown on the fees page.
- Waiting. Children can sit with you.
- Your medical history. A written medical history is taken before anything is examined, and it is updated at the start of every course of treatment. It covers heart conditions, diabetes, pregnancy, allergies, any tendency to bleed, and every medicine you take including anything bought without a prescription. Some of those change what can be done, and one or two change where it is better done.
- The chair. Dr. Pavya examines your teeth and gums. Instruments come out of a sealed, sterilised pouch in front of you.
- What you are told. What she found, what the options are, what each costs, what can go wrong with each, and what happens if you do nothing. You decide.
- Leaving. If treatment is needed, the next appointment is fixed now and confirmed on WhatsApp.
What to bring
- Any old X-rays or reports you have. No X-ray is taken at the clinic: we hold no radiation licence yet, so a picture that is needed is taken at a radiology centre in Chalakudy, about five minutes away by road, which charges you for it separately.
- A list of the medicines you take.
- A reading glass, if you use one.

The written plan
Before anything starts you get the plan in writing: what was found, what the options are, what each one costs as a range, what can go wrong with each, and what happens if you do nothing.
You decide what to do, and when. The final fee is confirmed after examination, and the same rates are displayed at the clinic.
Paying
The consultation fee is shown on the fees page, and is paid at the front desk. Receipts are issued for every payment.
If you are anxious
Raise your hand at any point and we stop.
Tell us at the front desk that you are anxious. We will describe what is about to happen, in order, before it happens.
Children
Children can sit with you in the waiting lounge and in the room. A first visit for a child is short: a look, a count of the teeth, and advice on brushing.
Care for every smile
Ready when you are.
Tell us your name and what is bothering you. We reply with a time.
